My husband and I wanted to get away for a week during the christmas/new year holiday. we decided to go to Paris. Of coarse we weren’t terribly surprised to see that hotels in paris were extremely expensive, even the one’s we would usually choose when we travel else where, places like the four seasons (our all time favourite) were over expensive for a tight room. so we decided to try out a bed and breakfast. my husband did his research on trip advisor and came up Beehome, he was very impressed to see that this place seemed to have such high ratings (all for a good reason) from many people. we had never been to a bed and breakfast before so we didn’t know what to expect.
on our first day of arrival we found Briggite and Phillipe waiting for us, they helped us with the bags and then showed us around. they also offered us some amazing home made cookies. my french is terrible but they spoke excellent english so communication wasn’t a problem.
Beehome is a really lovely place, its like a big apartment split into two suites, one for Brigitte and Phillipe and the other for us, so it felt as though we were going to stay over with a french family, which enhanced our experience.
Our wing was made up of a toilet, a bathroom a bedroom and a sitting room, with a small book library. it felt like we had rented out our own cosy little apartment. the furniture was great and the entire apartment was very well designed. we found out later that it was because Brigitte is a designer (hence the great decor and atmosphere).
we were also very lucky to meet Grisby, an adorable golden retriever (although they made sure that we liked dogs before they gave him freedom to roam around freely).
Brigitte made us some restaurant recommendations and even offered that we celebrate new years with her and her family if we didn’t have any plans which was very generous of her.
The breakfast was amazing, freshly baked baguette and croissant and incredible french cheese, and even home grown honey! and hot chocolate, it was a real treat. (we found out later that she would go out every morning to get us all the fresh bakery things on the day!)
Although we rented a car, we found that Beehome was very well situated and it was easy to walk to many historical sights, and walking in Paris is incredible.
The restaurant recommended to us by Brigitte were amazing. one day she offered to go downtown with us and she took us for a walk around the city and showed us some sights and introduced us to the amazing hot chocolate of Angelina!
it truly felt like we were staying with family, they were always there at breakfast to see if we needed anything, we would come back and she would always have suggestions or ideas for us about things to do.
they helped us with any questions we had about where to go, what to buy, what to see, anything we needed basically.
It really was worth every penny and its a great catch and great service. We are now back home and we are missing Paris very much, and we miss Grisby, Brigitte, Phillipe and Beehome even more. If your considering affordable accommodation with outstanding service and excellent location than this is the place to be!
